ICT

ICT is held in high regard at The Bishop of Winchester Academy and the department has enjoyed the substantial investment over the past year. Students can logon to remote desktop from any computer connected to the internet and gain access to programmes and files as if they were sitting in front of a computer during lessons.

Facilities

The Academy has 3 dedicated ICT suites with computers running Windows 7 Enterprise, Microsoft Office 2007 and Adobe Creative Design Studio Premium. The students also have access to 30 Windows PCs available to them in the Biblio-Tech which can be booked. The Biblio-Tech is also available after school for computer access.  In addition the students have access to a technology and music suite each containing 30 computers.

 Key Stage 3

(Years 7 and 8 )

Students will study topics taken and adapted from the National Curriculum sample teaching units. However due to the introduction of the New Curriculum September 2008 we are planning to make some exciting changes.

Key Stage 4

(Years 9, 10 and 11)

Students study the OCR Nationals this is a modular course and assessed through 100% coursework,

From September 2008 this will be a core subject with all students in year 9 experiencing 3 lessons per week. As this is a Level 2 course students will achieve a minimum GCSE grade C if they meet all of the pass criteria. We are also a pilot centre for the Functional Skills qualification a new qualification that will be statutory by 2012 and in the future we are looking at the possibility of running a level 3 course.
