Transition from Year 6

The Academy works very hard to give our new students a smooth, positive transition to secondary school life.

When starting at TBOWA, all parents are invited to meet with the Principal to discuss their child's successful transition to the Academy, and to make it clear the high expectations TBOWA has of all students. It is the signing of the home-school agreement that underpins these shared understandings. These meetings ensure that the crucial two-way partnership between home and school is established to guarantee all students are successful. We work closely with primary schools to get to know our students and to understand their academic and social needs.

Our main aim is to ensure that this transfer is a positive experience and that our new pupils will settle quickly into the Academy and are enthusiastic and ready to learn when they join us in September, and we have arranged a number of events to support this.

  • Coffee Morning on Monday 18th June at 9.30 am or 12.00 noon .  If you have particular concerns or queries, or feel that it would be helpful to come in and speak with a member of our Wellbeing, Inclusion or Transition Team then we would like to invite you to attend.  For catering purposes we would be grateful if you could contact reception by phone or email if you would like to attend one of these sessions.
  • Transition Days on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th July.
  • Information Evening for Parents on Wednesday 4th July at 6.00pm (doors will open at 5.30pm for parents to bring in forms and make payments, if this has not already been done).
  • Parental Meetings

Parents Information Evening

We look forward to meeting all our new pupils' parents at the Parents Information Evening on Wednesday 4th July at 6.00pm (doors open at 5.30pm).  There are a number of forms which need to be completed and signed for all new students.  However, these are currently being updated to comply with the new data protection regulations and we will make these available as soon as possible.  The following forms are now available and we would be grateful if these could be completed and returned to the Academy on or before Transition Information Evening:
