At the Bishop of Winchester Academy, our students develop excellent literacy skills and reading habits that help them to progress in every subject. We foster a love of literature and provide opportunities for learners to grow beyond the classroom setting.
Half termly literacy competitions and celebrations such as World Book Day and The Carnegie Prize support learning in the classroom. Every teacher in the Academy teaches literacy skills in their subject area; all teachers encourage the children to talk about their reading. We work together as a whole Academy to ensure every student reaches his or her potential in reading, writing and speaking.
