Attendance

The Attendance Target is 100%, as obviously this will give the best opportunity for the student to make good progress. The reverse of the report contains a full attendance summary for your child. Previous Assessment Information

Key Stage 2 Standard Attainment Tests (SATS – Year 6)

Most students arrive at The Academy with attainment levels in English, Mathematics and Science. The National average at the end of Key Stage 2 is level 4.

 

Key Stage 3 (Year 9)

Students at the Academy will take Key Stage 3 assessments in English, Mathematics and Science during the summer term of year 9. The National average at the end of Key Stage 3 is level 5.

 

Cognitive Ability Tests (CAT)

The Academy assesses all students using the CAT assessments on entry to the Academy. This information helps inform teaching staff of the strengths and weaknesses of each individual student. This enables the teachers to plan effectively and to support all students in making good progress.

 

What Are Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT)?

They are a measure of a range of reasoning skills. The tests look at reasoning with three types of symbols: words, numbers and shapes or figures.

  • Shapes or figures NVR – Non-Verbal Reasoning
  • Words VR – Verbal Reasoning
  • Numbers QU – Quantitative Reasoning

The final measure in the CAT category is the Mean the average of the three tests. The average score for CAT test is 100.
