Securing and maintaining a place in the Grammar Stream

Students whose data suggests that they may benefit from a place in the Grammar Stream will be invited to join a Grammar Stream mentoring group. The key data that secures a student a place in the Grammar Stream is their assessment results from Key Stage 2 and throughout their time in the Academy, their attitude to learning and homework, as well as their attendance. We regularly review student progress to ensure the right students are in the Grammar Stream.
Students in the Grammar Stream should consistently display the following qualities:

  • Consistently follow the Academy’s mantra of “High Expectations – No Excuses”
  • Engage fully in the Grammar Stream projects and tasks that are assigned to them
  • Progress well in summative assessments such as end of unit or end of year assessments
  • Pursue a range of extra-curricular activities
  • Are proactive in seeking support and guidance from their teachers
  • Have an outstanding attitude to learning at school and at home

However, places in the Grammar Stream are not guaranteed and so to maintain a place, students’ progress will be rigorously monitored by the Grammar Stream Leader.
